Jonathan Drake:
"The only time the master kept the wife and kids is when he was the one who provided the wife, and the slave didn't bring his wife originally."
And what happened to the woman who did not have a seven year limit like the men did. And the children who could be kept as slaves - for how long even if it's a child? The age of seniority? Indefinitely?

Yes, we're all wage slaves. And it will get worse with Republicans in power. We may see the day when workers will be sleeping in crowded dorms provided by their employers and eating expired food from supermarkets in order to justify paying them wages so low that they will not be able to rent. China already has those. -

Vidqun: "If you attempted to liberate a Roman slave,..."
I did not say that Christians should be liberating the slaves of non-Christians, I simply said that they could have told a person wanting to become a Christian that they had to liberate their own slaves as a precondition to joining the Christian community. That would not effect the Roman empire at all since slave masters had the right to liberate their own slaves.

The god of the bible doesn't care and here's some proof.
by Crazyguy inaround 600 ad a man named muhammed created a book called the quran.
a few hundred years later the followers of this new religion called islam went on a holy crusade out of arabia to spread their religion.
in one key battle they were met by the ruling government army and were out numbered at least by 3 to 1. they could of easily lost and if god would of made sure of this most likely thier religion would of stayed an insagnificant religion of just arabia.

Crazyguy: "...i have never read that the Muslims viewed jesus as the Messiah. Ill have to research this.."
No, Muslims do not consider Jesus to be a messiah. They just have a role for him to play in their eschatological writings.

wannaexit: "I am using a capsule but I've been told that tincture is best."
That's what I've also heard. If you use the capsule you might want to open it up and pour the powder in some hot tea. That should spread the powder thoroughly throughout your digestive tract. Do it on an empty stomach so it can get in your blood system faster.
If one brand or form of Saint John's wort has no effect try another one. Try the tincture first.

I used it once but couldn't tell the difference. Are you using a tincture or a capsule? -

Crazyguy: "2 billion plus people are Muslims and view Jesus as just a minor prophet and not their messiah"
Not quite a minor prophet. Muslims believe that God sent out three great prophets. They were Moses, Jesus and Mohammed. Of course they believe that Mohammed supersedes the first two but Jesus role is not quite a minor one. They actually believe Jesus will return to Earth in the last days and join hands with a Muslim messiah by the name of Mahdi to defeat an evil anti-Christ like person.

The monolith in Arthur Clark's movie 2001 was sent to 'reengineer' humanity's ancestors so they could ultimately evolve into a space traveling race. There were several monoliths.
The first one induced the propensity to use tools. After such an ability came about it fast forwards to the future where humanity has a space station and the ability to easily travel to the moon. That's where a second, larger monolith is discovered.
When the lunar monolith is discovered it sends a message to the planet Jupiter as an apparent bait for further space exploration. Inevitably a spaceship is sent to Jupiter (Saturn in the book) to investigate.
David Bowman is the astronaut on the ship who makes contact (after being temporarily sidetracked by a psychotic computer) with a third and largest monolith. That monolith is a space portal that sends Bowman to another location in the galaxy.
The last part of the movie is semi-metaphoric but it has Bowman in custody, well taken care of in a hotel like environment, for the rest of his life until he's just about to die. That's when a small monolith appears in front of his deathbed and sends him back to Earth reborn as an infant god.
It comes down to this. An extraterrestrial race wanted humanity to evolve further so that they could be gods.
Not quite like anything the Bitchtower does.

"Pygmy tribes found in Africa have no identifiable cults or rites."
Yes they do. The Bwiti tribe has initiation rites where they use psychedelic herbs to receive messages from their dead ancestors (spirits). This was before they started adopting Christian beliefs.
